Artist Name: Steve Wilson Artist Biography: Best known as a sideman in Chick Corea´s Origin and many other famed jazz ensembles, Steve Wilson (b. Hampton, VA, 2/9/61) developed his fluid style and versatility through years of study, touring, and session work with artists such as Jon Hendricks, Ellis Marsalis, Out of the Blue and Frank Foster. By the early ´90s, Wilson was becoming a leader in his own right, recording a series of albums for Criss-Cross while teaching as an adjunct faculty member of the William Patterson College jazz program in New Jersey. His work began to earn increasing critical praise; in 1997 and 1998 he was named in the Downbeat critics poll as a ³talent deserving wider recognition² for both soprano and alto saxophone.
