Tenor saxophonist and clarinetist Tad Shull (b. 10/15/55 Norwalk, CT) is both an accomplished musician and intellectual, having attended the New England Conservatory (´74 ´76) and later receiving his B.A. and M.A. in political science from Columbia University (´89). As a jazz player, Shull began on alto, studying with Dave Liebman and playing with a youth swing band in Westport, Connecticut. Since leaving the Conservatory he has played with his own groups, also appearing with the Smithsonian Jazz Orchestra (´81) and Widespread Jazz Orchestra (´81(). Shull led two sessions for Criss Cross in the early ´90s and continues to record for the label with Tenor Triangle, a group featuring Ralph Lalama and Eric Alexander. |
