Artist Biography: No relation to the legendary pianist of the same name, Bill Evans (b. 2/9/58, Clarendon Hills, IL) is an adventurous tenor and soprano saxophonist with strong improvising skills. At age 16, Bill was giving classical piano concerts; however, he made his name with a saxophone in hand, moving to New York in 1978 after studying at William Paterson College in New Jersey. Evans played beside Miles Davis for five years (´80-´84) before graduating to another fusion institution, John McLaughlin´s Mahavishnu Orchestra (´84-´86). In the early ´90s, Evans led Petite Blond, releasing records on Lipstick. Recent years have found him leading groups under his own name; 1999´s Touch (Zebra) is his latest release.
